Method for cost-effective strategy when terminating complex technical systems

1 Dezember 2016

Systecon, Saab Support and Services and Luleå University of Technology in Sweden have developed a method to find the most cost-effective strategy for repairable components when phasing out a complex technical system, for example an aircraft system. The method can decide when it is most cost effective to terminate the maintenance of a specific type of component, and how long the components of the already phased out systems should be taken care of.

When terminating complex technical systems there are very large money to be saved by finding the optimal strategy, and this method can provide an important contribution to find it. The development of the method has been made in the National Aviation Engineering Research (Nationella flygtekniska forskningsprogrammet NFFP), and is sponsored by VINNOVA.
